Become A Volunteer

DogAbility is an all-volunteer organization, some from professional backgrounds in canine behavior, training as well as psychotherapy and education. Many who simply LOVE dogs and many who want to use their free time in a directive way. We have joined together to design a program that appears to be the first of its kind in the country.

NOTE : All CANINE TEAM volunteers must be at least 21 yrs old.

Join DogAbility as we set a course for the future!

We are looking for interested individuals with initiative, to help steer the direction of our organization with your time and talents. It can be a short project or an ongoing position. Volunteerism is a great way to build a resume while seeking employment in a particular field. Sharing your skills will help ensure that our organization remains effective and carries forward our mission of bettering the lives and well-being of children and adults of all abilities in our community.

Why we’re always looking for more volunteers?

  • To increase awareness and understanding of our organization through the work that our volunteers do.
  • To give our volunteer staff additional manpower to get as much done as possible within the confines of our budget.
  • To act together to achieve a shared purpose.
  • Add assistants during sessions
  • Add additional canine teams to the program

What does it mean to be a DogAbility volunteer?

Our volunteers are truly at the heart of DogAbility and help us touch more lives every day. When you volunteer with us, you are joining a group made up of caring and dedicated adults and you’ll have the support of our program staff. Becoming a DogAbility volunteer is an investment of time, energy and heart. But as many of our volunteers have said of the participants they worked with – especially the children:  “It wasn’t about what I gave them, it was what they showed me.”

Not all of DogAbility volunteer positions require a special background or education, however, it will be necessary for you to take initiative and be able to identify your role within our group. We might need volunteers for a specific task at a specific time, or in a much more general role. We are thrilled to have more help in any area.
