Become A Volunteer

DogAbility is an all-volunteer organization, many from professional backgrounds in canine behavior and training as well as psychotherapy and education. We have joined together to design a program that appears to be the first of its kind in the country.

Join DogAbility as we set a course for the future!   *All volunteers must be at least 18 yrs old*

We are looking for interested individuals with initiative to help steer the direction of our organization with your time and talents. Your skills will help form our team and will ensure that our organization remains effective and carries forward our mission of bettering the lives and well-being of children and adults of all abilities in our community.

We are seeking volunteers for the following reasons:

  • To increase awareness and understanding of our organization through the work that our volunteers do.
  • To give our volunteer staff additional manpower to do more work and get as much done as possible within the confines of our budget.
  • To act together to achieve a shared purpose.
  • Add assistants during sessions
  • Add additional canine teams to the program

What does it mean to be a DogAbility volunteer?

Our volunteers are truly at the heart of DogAbility and help us touch more lives every day. When you volunteer with us, you are joining a team made up of caring and dedicated adults and you’ll have the support of our program staff. Becoming a DogAbility volunteer is an investment of time, energy and heart. But as many of our volunteers have said of the participants they worked with – especially the children: "It wasn't about what I gave them, it was what they showed me."

Not all of DogAbility volunteer positions require a special background or education, however, it will be necessary for you to take initiative and be able to identify your role within our group. We might need volunteers for a specific task at a specific time, or in a much more general role, for any help you can give.

Commitment and follow-through are very important!
